MADISON, Wis. - After more than three decades in service, a popular sports bar is closing on Madison's west side.
Babes Grill and Bar will close on Nov. 16.
Employees said the building is set to be demolished, with demolition starting on Nov. 26.
An apartment building is going up in its place.
The owners of Babes plan to open a new restaurant in the bottom of the apartment building, but it will not be a sports bar.
Construction on the new building and restaurant should be finished by the end of 2020.
The owners of Babes thanked staff and customers for 31 years of service in a Facebook post.
