Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen announced Monday that its popular chicken sandwich will be back on Sunday, Nov. 3. Coincidentally, chicken rival Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays. The chain announced the return of the item in a video and on the same day that parent company Restaurant Brands International Inc. QSR, -3.78% announced its third-quarter results. While earnings were in line with expectations, sales fell short. The launch of the chicken sandwich in August sparked a chicken sandwich war between Popeyes, Chick-fil-A and Wendy's Co. WEN, -1.88%. Restaurant Brands International shares are down 3.2% in Monday trading, but have gained nearly 27% for the year to date. The S&P 500 index SPX, +0.56% is up 21.4% for 2019 so far.
