So where would YOU want to go if you were poking around on the internet looking for a dream ski vacation this winter? We’ve got a list of what other vacation ski shoppers were searching online in August and September.
SEMrush, which is described on its website as a competitive research service for online marketing, analyzed online search volume in those months to identify which towns travelers were researching the most for ski trips this winter. Jackson Hole came out on top and four Colorado resorts made the list, led by Aspen at No. 6.
That was before it started snowing in Colorado, though. Snowfall is a huge driver in ski travel, and Colorado is off to a great start thanks to unusually heavy October snowfall. Arapahoe Basin, Keystone and Loveland are already open, and three more areas follow this weekend: Eldora, Monarch and Wolf Creek.

Thanks to exceptional snow last season, Colorado resorts set a record for ski visits (13.8 million), according to Colorado Ski Country USA. The Rocky Mountain region, which led the nation, also set a record in 2018 with 24.4 million skier visits, nearly twice as many as the second-ranked region (Northeast with 12.5 million), according to the National Ski Areas Association, which is headquartered in Lakewood.
Anyway, for what it’s worth, here’s the SEMrush list:
